- 'Security of employment ,good working conditions, a healthy and safe work environment ' ( Armstrong , 2017 )
- They may also expect ' a say in their terms and conditions of employment and way their work is organized ' ( Armstrong , 2017 )
EXPECTATIONS OF EMPLOYERS
- That employees will perform their duties and tasks in a satisfactory manner , in accordance with their legal obligations and organizational policies and procedures .
- That if an employee's performance is not satisfactory , employers have the right to take appropriate action , which could include disciplinary action ( Henderson , 2017 )
- They may also expect that employees will ' do 'what they are told without costing too much ' ( Armstrong , 2017 )
EMPLOYEE RELATION POLICIES
Employee relation policies express the philosophy of the organization on what sort of relationships are wanted between management and employees and , where necessary , their unions ,and how the pay- work bargain should be manage. A social partnership policy will aim to develop and maintain a positive , productive , cooperative and trusting climate of employee relations.

Employee relationship is an important aspect when its come to human resource management. Human resource managers are the one who become bridge between the employee and employer. An Employee Relations Specialist's responsibilities include collecting employee data, organizing employee files, and overseeing employee training.
According to Bye,S.(2021)Employee relations look specifically to developing and maintaining positive relationships with a company’s employees. While employee relations is a function of HR, its major role is liaising between employer and employees as well as building in benefits and policies to create a healthy workplace. Employee relations came out of industrial relations, but in a post-industrial world, has adapted itself. Trade unions still exist, particularly in the public sector, but advances in individual workplace rights means that employee relations managers look to settle disputes internally in an equitable way that benefits both employer and employee.

HR's main duty is communicating between the employer and employees as well as implementing benefits and policies to foster a positive atmosphere at work, even though employee relations is a function of HR. Industrial relations gave birth to employee relations, which have now changed to fit the post-industrial era. Although there are still unions, especially in the public sector, employee relations managers prefer to resolve conflicts internally in an equitable way that benefits both the business and the employee due to advancements in individual workplace rights.

When workers feel respected by their supervisors for their contributions to the organization's success, they tend to reciprocate this respect with hard work and loyalty towards the company .
